NAWA Grant Awarded to Dr. Klaudia Dębiec-Andrzejewska for Development of a Microbiological Fertilizer Using Biogas Desulfurization Residues

Dr. Klaudia Dębiec-Andrzejewska from our laboratory has received NAWA funding for the project “Development of a Controlled-Release Microbiological Fertilizer Based on Biogas Desulfurization Sludge and Its Application in Supporting Blueberry Growth,” carried out in collaboration with Chengdu University (China). The project focuses on developing a microbiological fertilizer that ensures long-term, controlled release of sulfur compounds to acidify the blueberry root zone, improving nutrient uptake and reducing the need for frequent fertilization. An innovative element is the use of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria combined with biogas desulfurization sludge, turning an industrial by-product into a valuable agricultural resource.
The University of Warsaw contributes expertise in environmental microbiology and soil–plant studies, while Chengdu University supports microbial selection, chemical analyses, and fertilizer formulation. We warmly congratulate Dr. Dębiec-Andrzejewska and wish her continued research success
